Here are some of the actions I have taken to make my business more sustainable:
- Green energy. 100% of the energy used to power and heat my office comes from renewable sources, provided by 100Green.
- Ethical banking. I use Triodos for my business transactions in the UK.
- Reduce, reuse, recycle. I prioritise repairing and extending the lifecycle of any office and computing equipment that I use, and buy refurbished or second-hand items wherever possible. Any items that cannot be repaired are recycled by organisations such as Jamie’s Computers.
- Flight-free. I have taken the Flight Free pledge. If I do need to travel abroad for my work, I go by train.
- AI-free. I do not knowingly use generative AI in any aspect of my work, due to its high water and energy use.
