I haven't posted many news updates on the blog this year. Not because it's been quiet, but quite the opposite: I've mostly been too busy to post. A quick summary of what I've been up to in the past 12 months:
I'm now looking forward to a restful break over Christmas. Here's wishing you a merry Christmas too, and a great start to 2019!
- Did my longest ever translation: I completed a book-length translation at a whopping 135,000 words. It has been very challenging, both in terms of the difficult subject matter and the logistics of working on such a long project, but also very rewarding.
- Organised my first translation workshop: in January, I was elected coordinator of the ITI's German Network. Following a few months dealing with internal admin (switching to a new e-group provider and, of course, getting ready for the dreaded GDPR), in October I organised my first event for the network: a hands-on workshop in Birmingham where participants translated short texts in groups and swapped ideas on how to approach tricky translation problems.
- Completed proofreading mentoring: I completed the third and final stage of the SfEP's proofreading training. Next year, I am planning to begin their copy-editing courses.
